This adorable pumpkin that I made is a perfect autumn craft! It’s really quite simple to put together, but the end result looks fantastic! I think I can file this under “easy crafts that look hard”. Another plus? There’s not a ton of materials involved, so it’s pretty cheap to put together as well!
After putting this together, I added it to my “Pumpkin Patch”. I went a little bezerk with pumpkins this year, but I’m glad I did, because once they were all done, and I put them all together, they looked fantastic together!
So cute, right? Don’t worry, I have a post for each of these beauties on here with instructions on how to make them! BUT, let’s get back to this particular pumpkin! This beaded pumpkin was really fun to make, and gluing each bead on where I want it is actually kind of therapeutic (though I think all crafts are fantastic for mental clarity!).
Okay, let’s get to the instructions!!!
BEADED PUMPKIN CRAFT
- Styrofoam Ball (I used a 4 inch styrofoam ball for this craft)
- Craft glue (My favorite is Crafter’s Pick, because it sticks perfectly, is non-toxic, and dries clear – which is great for a messy gluer like myself!
- Mixed beads (I used “In Bloom” acrylic bead mix that I got at Hobby Lobby)
- Empty brown egg carton
- Burlap string
- Embellishments for the stem (I used a leaf from some old plastic flowers and a bow)
1.) First, you want to cut the top and bottom of your styrofoam ball to make it more in the shape of a pumpkin.
2.) Cut one of the tall egg dividers from your egg carton. This will serve as your pumpkin stem. Glue the divider onto the styrofoam ball.
3.) Now comes the fun part! Glue the beads onto the styrofoam ball one by one. You may have to do this in batches and let them dry in between each batch depending on how quickly your glue dries.
4.) Once the beads are all glued on, and the glue has dried, put some glue on the stem, and then wrap your burlap string around the stem from bottom to top covering it completely. Tuck the ends of the string in.
5.) Place some glue at the base of the stem and add your embellishments. Allow the glue to dry completely.
All done! Told ya it was easy! But wow!!! Look how cute!
