Homemade Ketchup

Have you ever looked at the ingredient list of most store bought ketchups?  Most of them contain tomato concentrate, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, excessive salt, and sugar.  These ingredients are undesirable at best.  What’s worse is that these ingredients are made from corn, and 70-85% of all corn grown in the United States is GMO – ICK!  GMO stands for genetically modified organisms, and they are as yucky as they sound!  This pin lists some of the potential health risks associated with eating GMO foods.

But wait, ketchup is so yummy and goes with everything!  I know.  I know.  So, I have great news for you!  I have a wonderful homemade recipe for ketchup that tastes just as good as the real thing (actually better in my opinion), and is good for you!  Yay!

  • 1 6oz. jar of organic tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1⁄4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1⁄4 cup water

1.) Place all the ingredients in a medium bowl.

2.) Mix well.

Easy Peasy!  Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and use as you would regular ketchup!  Enjoy! 🙂
